Azera is the seventh vehicle in Hyundai’s 24/7 version 2.0 product initiative (seven new models in 24 months), on the heels of the all-newTucson, Sonata, Equus, Elantra, Accent and Veloster. The 2012 Azera represents a modern approach to the traditional large sedan segment by using an advanced powertrain, emotional design and luxury features offered with Hyundai’s strong value proposition. This approach has been successful for the other Fluidic Sculpture vehicles.

2012 AZERA MEETS THE MECHANICS OF FLIGHT
Azera’s Fluidic Sculpture design takes inspiration from the mechanics of flight. The exterior of the all-new Azera is long, light and low. The unique, undulating beltline allows for a long, sleek roofline accented by the third window and wraparound LED taillights. A monoform side profile includes flowing lines. The face is masculine with a large powerful chrome grille and HID headlamps that integrate precise details. The stance is completed by available 19-inch multi-spoke wheels.

The elegant look continues inside where Hyundai has created an upscale ambiance, thanks to a flow-through center fascia and instrument panel. These flowing surfaces complement the exterior design and wrap around the driver and passengers.

ACCOMMODATING INTERIOR WITH STANDARD LEATHER
The 2012 Azera offers luxurious appointments that rival the finest premium competitor brands. It offers a roomy cabin with more than 45 inches of legroom and 40 inches of headroom for front-seat passengers.

Special attention has been paid to other interior details, such as an optional panoramic sunroof, which allows more natural light into the cabin and 3D Carbon interior accents. Ambient lighting compliments the vehicle’s modern appearance. Other unexpected luxury appointments include an electrochromic auto-dimming mirror with HomeLink® and power rear sunshade and manual rear side window shades. The side shades can be inconspicuously tucked away when not in use and no other car in the segment offers them.

Seats are extremely important in this segment. The 2012 Azera offers first class seating assignments for all passengers. Leather seating surfaces are standard. A ten-way power driver and eight-way front passenger’s seats are standard equipment. The driver’s seat has an optional cushion extension and an integrated memory system for the seat, steering wheel and side mirrors. Azera’s climate and seat temperature controls keep occupants in total comfort.

“I have had this car two weeks today. Great car to drive. The exterior is great looking, and they also did a good job with the interior and its layout. I had a 2009 Sonata I traded in. I think this car handles and drives better than the 09 Sonata. Mileage on the highway with the cruise set at 71 MPH was 37.5 MPG. My mileage around where I live (country and city combined) has been 29.7 MPG. The mileage has been about 3 MPG better then I was getting with the 09. Bluelink is fun to play with, but I will probably not keep it after the free trial is over. I do like the Bluetooth setup for my phone, which is only a tracfone pay-as-you-go model, but it linked up OK with the bluetooth.

The Sonata was bigger than the rest on almost all measures, had a great price and tons of added standard features (Bluetooth was important because recent laws).

“After having my 2011 rear-ended at 60 mph and not even feeling stiff the next day, I am a believer. Although the car was totaled, I was fine! The car had 13k miles on it and was just what I needed. I drive from San Francisco to Alabama a few times a year and this car has enough room for me and my wife, and more cargo space than you would think. Gas mileage and performance were great. The blue link is a nice feature if you have need for such. I would advise the popular Option 1 that adds the power seat and alloy wheels.

Veloster finishes first full month with more than 3,700 sales

COSTA MESA, Calif., Nov. 1, 2011 — Hyundai Motor America today announced sales of 52,402 vehicles in October, a 23 percent total sales increase compared with the same period a year ago.  The year-to-date sales figures of 545,316 shattered the full year sales record of 538,228 set in 2010.  Retail sales were up 27 percent over last October.

“Breaking our all-time any-time sales record set in 2010, with two months left in the 2011 calendar year, is an accomplishment we take great pride in and is clearly indicative of consumer acceptance of our bold line-up of award winning products,” said Dave Zuchowski, Hyundai Motor America’s executive vice president of national sales. “The overall sales environment appears to be stabilizing, despite continued fluctuations in traditional economic indicators, and we believe those market dynamics position Hyundai well to finish the year on a strong note.”

Year to date, Hyundai sales are up 21 percent versus 2010 in total, and up 31 percent at retail.  Sales to fleet accounts represent 11 percent of the total sales year-to-date and just 8 percent for the month of October.  Thirty-seven percent of Hyundai vehicles sold in October achieved 40 MPG fuel economy ratings.

Santa Fe and Tucson, Hyundai’s crossover line-up, registered sales increases of 44 and 24 percent, respectively.  The all-new Hyundai Elantra saw a sales increase of 37 percent over the same period last year and the Genesis saw a sales increase of 10 percent.

“The Veloster, our new 40-MPG 3-door sport coupe, had its first full month of sales and we delivered more than 3,700 units across the country to some very happy buyers,” said John Krafcik, Hyundai Motor America’s president and CEO.  “We’ve got some pretty exciting Velosters on the showroom floor at the SEMA Show this year from the rally-inspired Veloster built by ARK Performance to some other highly modified Velosters and Genesis Coupes.”
